Terms of service

The short version

  • No account, no KYC. We never ask for your name, ID, email or phone number. Monero swaps are never frozen and never ask for KYC. The network behind normal swaps runs its own checks, which very rarely hold a swap (section 3).
  • We never hold your funds — so we never freeze them. Every swap goes straight through a one-time deposit address run by the swap provider; nothing passes through a swap.je wallet.
  • If a swap can't complete, it's refunded to the refund address you gave.
  • Legal requests: we only act on a valid legal order. Then we share the records it covers and may stop serving the addresses involved. We still can't freeze, seize or reverse funds.
  • Blockchain payments can't be undone. Check addresses, network and memo before you send.

01About these terms

These terms cover the swap.je website, the swap.je Telegram Mini App and the Telegram bot @swapjerobot (together, “swap.je”, “we”, “us”). By using swap.je you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use it.

You must be at least 18 and allowed to use a service like this where you live.

02What swap.je is

swap.je is an interface for swapping one cryptocurrency for another. We don't run the swaps ourselves and we are not an exchange, a bank, a wallet or a custodian.

  • Normal swaps are filled by a liquidity network of independent market makers. When you confirm, the network gives you a one-time deposit address. After your deposit arrives, the swap settles and the coin you chose is paid to your receiving address.
  • Monero (XMR) swaps are run by a separate no-KYC swap service. You send to its one-time deposit address, and it holds the deposit only while it swaps. The rate floats: what you receive is set when your deposit arrives.

We call these third parties “swap providers” below. They have their own terms and rules, which also apply to your swap.

03No account, no KYC

We don't ask for your name, identity documents, email address, phone number or a wallet connection, and there is no account to create. You can send from any wallet or exchange.

Monero swaps run through a swap service that doesn't freeze swaps and doesn't ask for KYC. A Monero swap either completes or is refunded to your refund address.

Normal swaps are filled by a liquidity network that runs its own anti-money-laundering checks. In rare cases it can hold a normal swap for review and ask for information before releasing or refunding it. If that happens to you, message support with your deposit address and we'll help with the case. The final decision is the network's, not ours.

04Your funds: we never hold or freeze them

swap.je never takes custody of your funds. Your deposit goes to the swap provider's one-time address, and the payout goes from the provider to your address. We have no wallet in between and no keys to it, so we have no way to hold, freeze, seize, redirect or reverse your funds.

We never freeze anyone's funds, at our own discretion or for anyone else.

The liquidity network behind normal swaps can pause deposits or payouts on one network for safety, for example during a bridge problem. During such a pause, swaps on that network wait and then complete or are refunded as normal.

06Your responsibilities

  • Addresses. You give a receiving address and a refund address. Both must be addresses you control, on the right network. We check that they look valid, but we can't check who owns them.
  • Network, token and memo. Send only the coin shown, on the network shown. If a memo or tag is shown, include it.
  • Amount and time. Send the amount shown, before the deadline shown, to the address shown. A deposit address works for one swap only; never reuse it.
  • The law where you are. You're responsible for making sure your swaps are legal for you, and for any taxes on them.

07What you must not do

Don't use swap.je with funds from crime, fraud, theft or hacks. Don't use it to launder money, finance terrorism or get around sanctions. Don't use it if you or the people you act for are subject to sanctions.

Don't attack, overload, scrape or try to break swap.je, and don't pretend to be swap.je.

We may refuse or stop serving anyone we reasonably believe is breaking these rules.

08Fees and rates

Our fee and the network fees are included in the rate shown before you confirm. Nothing extra is charged on top. “You receive” is an estimate:

  • Normal swaps pay out at least the “minimum received” for your slippage setting. If the price moves further than that, the swap is refunded instead.
  • Monero swaps use a floating rate, so the final amount is set when your deposit arrives. It can be slightly above or below the estimate.

Minimum amounts depend on the pair and current network fees. The quote tells you before you send anything.

09Refunds and things that go wrong

  • Too much sent: the extra is refunded to your refund address.
  • Too little sent, sent late, or the price moved: the deposit is refunded to your refund address. This usually happens once the deadline passes.
  • Monero swaps that can't complete are refunded by the swap service to your refund address.
  • Wrong coin, wrong network, missing memo, or a reused or expired address: funds may not be recoverable. We'll do what we can, but we can't promise to get them back.

Refunds go out on the network you sent from, so network fees apply. If a swap looks stuck, open it on the Track page first. If there's no final status a few hours after your deposit confirmed, message support.

10Availability and pauses

We may change, limit or pause swap.je at any time, for maintenance, safety, legal reasons or because a provider is having problems. When we pause, it applies only to new swaps. Swaps already started carry on and keep updating.

Assets, networks and providers can change without notice. Live status is on the status page.

11Your information

We keep only what we need to run swaps, provide support and prevent abuse. We don't sell your information or use it for advertising. We only disclose it as described in Requests from law enforcement.

To run your swap, its details (the addresses and amounts) go to the swap provider. Addresses and transactions on public blockchains are public by nature.

12No advice, and the risks of crypto

Nothing on swap.je is financial, investment, legal or tax advice. Crypto prices move quickly, transactions can't be reversed, and networks, bridges and smart contracts can fail. You use swap.je at your own risk.

13Our liability

swap.je is provided “as is” and “as available”. We don't promise it will always be available or error-free.

We're not liable for losses caused by things outside our control, such as:

  • a swap provider or blockchain;
  • wrong details entered by you;
  • delays, network congestion or price movements.

As far as the law allows, our total liability for any swap is limited to the fee we earned on that swap. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law.

14Changes and contact

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version, and using swap.je after a change means you accept it.
